Benway to leave ACSC for Mass. Innovation Bridge
May 5, 2016
The Advanced Cyber Security Center’s executive director, Charlie Benway, is leaving the organization to take a new role to enhance the business connections between federal agencies and Massachusetts’ innovation economy. Benway will be the Director of Massachusetts Innovation Bridge, a partnership between the Commonwealth through MassDevelopment and the MITRE Corporation that will work with state officials to engage more non-traditional companies across all sectors to meet the needs of federal agencies.
“While this is a fantastic opportunity that promises to be challenging, exciting and fun, it is difficult leaving the ACSC, which has grown through the strength of its members. You have made us the premier cyber organization in the region and a national model,” Benway said in a note to members. ACSC Board chair Bill Guenther thanked Benway in a separate note for three years of leadership that institutionalized the ACSC's powerful threat sharing and effective practice model.
ACSC has a full schedule of ongoing programming and new initiatives planned, overseen during the transition by Guenther and implemented by the ACSC team. Kathy Plazak will expand her current project role and serve as chief of staff.
A search for a new Executive Director will be launched in June by the Board, led by Guenther and Board vice chair and Boston Fed COO, Ken Montgomery, after completion of a strategic assessment of the organization’s direction and needs.
